Regression modeling in the processing of observations
Abstract
Some aspects of the use of regression modeling in the processing of astronomical observation data are examined. The new approach provides an alternative to the traditional least squares approach with a fixed model. The elements of regression analysis, applicability of the Gauss-Markov scheme, and adaptation techniques are discussed. The efficiency of regression modeling is illustrated by specific examples from selenodesy and photographic astrometry.
